There are so many reasons why you should have money saved in the bank. After seeing what happened with a global Pandemic, layoffs, and life over the past two years, we can all see the benefit of saving a large chunk of cash to have on hand for emergencies.
I was able to save close to $10,000 in two months and one week. Please remember not to compare your situation to mine. You have different challenges than I do. These are general financial tips that I used to get myself to my savings goal meant to be shared for inspiration.
I was able to save quickly because I moved every single penny that wasn’t allocated towards an item on my budget into my savings account. This is known as a zero-based budget. I also had an increase in pay, had a yearly bonus come in, as well as income from side hustles. Here are my tips to getting you on the fast track to saving your money:
-
- Unfollow any consumer-based accounts like fashion, food, home decor accounts.
- Rethink monthly subscriptions, only keep the ones that you use/need
- Avoid the supermarket when you are hungry
- Delete shopping apps like Amazon
- “No-Spend” Month
- Picked up an extra job
- Used my holiday bonus toward the savings fund
- Set up direct deposit into the savings account
